Identifying Illegal Credit Repair Methods

If you think that all credit repair methods are the same, you have got it all wrong. There are a number fraudulent credit repair firms that advocate the use of illegal methods to clean your credit for instance, report of damaging information in order to get a higher credit score. These firms operate under the guise of seemingly legal procedures so you can never really tell which ones are up to no good. However, there are some tell tale signs of a scam.
Pointer 1
Never go for a credit history repair company or credit history repair lawyers who suggest that you get a new Social Security number so that you can apply for a clean, new credit history report. This method is called file segregation and this is illegal.
Pointer 2
Stay away from companies who try and salvage your credit rating by disputing everything listed in your credit report. Although we have the right to dispute questionable information as specified by The Fair Credit Reporting Act, only information that is erroneous, unverifiable, misleading, inaccurate and inconsistent can be disputed. This provision aims to put the rights of the borrowers in check so that they veer away from taking advantage of the system. Credit history repair companies who suggest questioning everything obviously do not know anything about the system and by doing so only give away their true motives.
Pointer 3
Do not enlist the services of a credit repair firm that asks for huge upfront fees. Most fraudulent companies operate by extracting as much money from you and then vanishing when people start getting suspicious and begin complaining about the service or lack of it.
